Who is behind this campaign – who stands to gain while the rest of us lose?
Build it now! WHY would we? How could we? This doesn't belong at Ground Zero and all the pretty graphics in the world will never change that. Most people see through the propaganda and don't want New York, New York turned into Generica. It's so obvious: New York needs its Twin Towers back. America needs its spirit back. What we should be asking is who wants to prevent that and why?
The shadowy Build It Now campaign is promoting a dismal development that claims to "restore our skyline" while doing nothing of the sort. It lacks a single element worthy of the public's support. We wish that were not the case, but it is. We believe that many in positions of authority are reexamining their positions and we have an awareness campaign of our own underway. The aim of the Twin Towers Alliance is to provide New Yorkers and all Americans, whose tax dollars have lavishly underwritten the renewal of Lower Manhattan, with the information they need to put pressure on those responsible for the re-building of the World Trade Center – and to hold accountable those who stand in the way.
This comment was recently posted on the New York Sun website: "Stop Arguing and Posturing!! PUT the TWIN TOWERS BACK!!! NOW!!! Are we a nation of red-blooded human beings? Or a nation of spineless bloodless sissies?? I'm very unhappy and VERY ANGRY at having to ask myself that question. We sent men to the Moon. And now we are incapable of replacing two skyscrapers?"
It is up to us to insist on the restoring our skyline with the Tallest, Strongest, Greenest and Most Beautiful Twin Towers in the World. And we can get it done in time for a 9/11/2011 dedication – two steps back and ten leaps forward... imagine that!
