We often hear people say that "everyone" they know wants to see the Twin Towers rebuilt better than ever. The depth of feeling and conviction distilled here is a rebuke to the cynicism surrounding the current plans, which are missing a key ingredient: respect for the American people's common sense and rightful role.

I was driving on the NJ Turnpike on September 9, 2001. I remember looking to my right & seeing the twin towers. I remember thinking to myself how important they were to New York’s skyline and how the city would never be the same without them. Little did i know at the time, that was the last time i would ever see them again. Now over 10 years have passed since 9/11 and every day on my way to work i see the FREEDOM TOWER rise taller and i Pray that a sane government official puts a stop to it. The Twin Towers were not only ICONIC BUILDINGS but symbolized the power of the world financial district & to New Yorkers seeing them meant HOME! The Freedom Tower looks weak, flimsy & doesn’t show resilience, it shows FEAR! THE FREEDOM TOWER is a disgraceful and embarrassing replacement to 2 of the most symbolic towers in the world. Govt officials shouldn’t be proud they should be ashamed because they let the terrorists win. Rebuild the real world trade center, The Twin Towers we all loved and miss.

I was deeply affected by the atrosities of 9/11. The world will never be the same again for the generations that witnessed this horror. It cannot be undone but in my view, to heal the wounds best possible, we should have a rebuild of the original, beautiful towers. Anything less will be a perpetual reminder of the horrors that went down that day and I prefer to put that behind me. I want to honor the innocent victims but I don’t want such a visible reminder, that the terrorists were “succesful” in their horrible endeavor. Bring back the twins! I don’t mind that it’s in an improved, and safer version, but there should be a set of twin towers at ground zero.

Newyork is sad enough over the losses of our people, the least you can do is restore Americas icon to cheer people up and show the world what America is really made of! It seems like America only cares about money when money’s not everything. There are plenty of people willing to donate money to get those twins rebuilt instead of people having to live with the unfit freedom tower. Why must everything that parishes never come back the same or even come back at all? People love to say “that’s life”, but they fail to realize the huge difference between life and people. The actions caused by life is inevitable. The actions caused by people are not. Which means choosing the freedom tower, over the Twin Towers, isn’t life, it’s a Pathetic choice.

Guys i did sign here a long time ago, but i think its time now to let it go, give up. One thing i dispise about the american government, it is they dont give a crap about their people. You are on par with the taliban, and your government is just beyond corrupt. Ten years since 3000 people died and only now do we see any memorial and a building which is a middle finger to the american people. The towers shold have been rebuilt bigger and stronger as a tribute to the people who died, but instead we wait ten years to see a random glass building emerge from that memorial ground, makes me sick. My friends across the pond it is time to come to terms with the fact that the terrorist has won… They destroyed the new york skyline for good. Pathetic.

TTA Note: We looked for an earlier message that we could merge with this one, but couldn’t find one. As for the negative outlook, we will address it in a bulletin, because it is based on an assumption that is widespread, but not as logical as it seems to be.

I feel that the rebirth of the World Trade Center will not only restore the NYC skyline to what it was once before, but restore the American spirit, for we stay strong as a nation, but the rebuilding of the Twin Towers would completely mend the American pride way more than the Freedom Tower (One World Trade) ever would. PLEASE REBUILD THESE TOWERS!!!

I visited those majestic towers when i was about 7 on August 2000, I was amazed at the twin towers for being so big so… very tall and standing proud. I didn’t understand 9/11 until 5th grade, but I’m sick and tired of the world trade center being remembered as a tragic place where people died by new generations! WE NEED THESE TOWERS BACK the Way they were , not 1 tower, NOT 4 ASYMETRICAL BUILDINGS, BUT 2 TWIN TOWERS!

    BRING BACK THE TWINS!

I was 15 years old the on day of the attacks on America and it is a day I will never ever forget to my dying day! Fast forward 10 years later and I finally get to visit the great city of New York, a dream come true for a young Irishman as myself! While there I had the time of my life but every second of every day the world trade centre and the twin towers were on my mind! The day I went to visit the site or crime scene as I refer to it, it was just a chilling experience for me thinking of all the people that perished that day and all the long strangely for some reason I still expected to look up high into the sky and see those beautiful towers but I saw nothing but a poor attempt at salvaging America’s freedom! So please bring back the Twin Towers!

The Twin Towers Were The Most Beautiful, Perfect & Intresting Structures To Ever Exsist. The Entire Complex Was Outstanding And I Would Have Loved To See The Entire Complex Back But I Understand There Has There Has To Be a Memorial For Those Who Were Lost.

Alhough The Terrorists Took Them From Us That Is An Insentive To Put Them Back Where They Were And Where They Belong!

    DONT LET THE TERRORISTS WIN!

    TWIN TOWERS FOREVER!

The Freedom Tower is a Fear Tower. There’s still time and Room to build WTC 1 and 2 though. The port authority has ignored the American people in favor of short term financial gain.

The Towers need to be rebuilt.

I am 17 now, or turned 17 last year, 2011. The 9-11 terror attacks happened when I was seven years old, but before that I was blessed to be able to see the old NYC skyline, and I think it would more than amazing if it were rebuilt. Before 9-11 my father, (one time as my family visited the city; I live about 45 mins away) pointed to the brothers and told me “You see those two buildings there? They are the strongest in the world. They bombed them before you were born, but they did not fall.” Maybe if the towers are rebuilt, I can tell perhaps in the future tell my son that even though they fell, it did not stop them from coming back. Please rebuild our New York, our Skyline, Our World Trade Center.

We need to rebuild the twin towers. It’s the only way we can show the terrorists that America has won. It would be cheaper to rebuild the twin towers and would show respect for the 9/11 families, respect to fire fighters and also police officers. I live in Scotland and even I want the twin towers back, everyone does. Lets all do the right thing, It’s not too late to rebuild the twin towers. Scrap towers two and three. I would recommend watching Timothy Mcque on youtube, search rebuild the twin towers and you will find him on web cam video. This man knows what he’s talking about.

The World Trade Center was a symbol of this country for years and whether a bit simple still very much recognized by the world. 1WTC, I have nothing against. Americans I have to admit are wallowing in the past and it’s time to move on a while ago but I know and most of America do the same that the twins have to return and that will be the true closure that we need.

The terrorists have already won by changing the New York skyline. The Freedom Tower is almost finished. We have lost the Twin Towers to both Al Qaeda and the politicians.

I can’t believe that the Twin Towers are gone forever. I am going to miss them terribly. Why did we let this happen? When I go to New York I will not be visiting ground zero.

The twin towers were a historical landmark, and on the 11th of september these towers were brought down, and ever since that day lower manhattan changed. new york changed. the world changed. the twin towers were in the same league as americas major landmarks. They were a part of american pride, and to lose them is a major blow to the skull. I personally never got to visit them, and I may not live in that country but it seemed a part of me. I want these towers back, and now.

the twin towers fit with the nyc skyline. freedom tower doesnt, it looks to robotic. also, by not rebuilding the twins, we have given the terrorists what they want — to perminantly damage the new york skyline.

I visited NYC in July 2001. At first the twins were scary for being so tall (I was 9), but I got to the top of wtc2 and it was spectacular! The highest place I have ever been on to date. The twin towers will forever be in my vision of NYC. To me that ground is still considered ground zero until the twins return one day and stand tall and proud, not only as a symbol and icon of NYC but America and a big middle finger to terrorism in the world. “Freedom tower” does the exact opposite.

It pains me to know that the Twin Towers and their famous Windows On The World and the Outdoor observation deck will never be enjoyed again. Personally because of the construction of the Freedom Tower I will never visit Lower Manhattan or the Statue Of Liberty again! Never!

It boggles my mind that we have not rebuilt them. Why would we ever settle for a memorial? We need the Twin Towers on the skyline again – compared to the stimuli passed, rebuilding it would be pocket change – and it would do so much more for morale. If Big Ben or the Eiffel Tower were destroyed, they’d be rebuilt. Why not the Twin Towers? And our economy was booming after 9/11, why didn’t we rebuild it then when there was the housing and real estate bubble!?

the new trade center just looks bad, like some new age japanese building, and has way to much glass, the old world trade didnt look like other buildings, it didnt just blend in like the rest it was something else.

New York just isn’t the same without the twins. Sure there is the two fountain memorial, battery park, and the statue of liberty. However what else does lower manhattan have? It use to have a two 110 story city within a city complex. A destination for business and pleasure that served as a symbol of New York since 1970/1971. They need to be rebuilt… no they must be rebuilt. It’s been my dream for a long time… to stand in Austin J. Tobin plaza and look straight up at just the sheer size of those beautiful buildings. To this day… that dream goes unfulfilled. The freedom tower just does not have the same beauty the twins had. The twins were Iconic… that in of itself should be enough to bring them back. Oh America… bring back my twins!

please god get someone to put them back up

I LOST A FEW FRIENDS IN THE TOWERS ON THAT TERRIBLE MORNING OF 911. I believe that the towers should be rebuilt again, and stand majestically over NYC. It would be in great respect to the fallen heroes and fellow country men of freedom that we lost tragically on that day. It would show the world that all hopes for peace and freedom will never be removed from our hearts and souls. That the American’s who perished are not forgotten and their deaths are not in vain. I believe that the new towers would represent that we are a strong nation, that can rebuild itself stronger and rise up again after it has fallen. That we Americans can be reborn from the ashes like a phoenix. That we also can recover from our loss and pain, and show the ones responsib

Now the Freedom Tower is 92 stories up. I will still go to New York City but I will never again visit Lower Manhattan because I hate the new complex. I can go any where else in New York such as Times Square, Central Park, or Coney Island but I will never visit Ground Zero.

Born and raised in Orange, N.J. I’ve been to New York City countless times. And the only landmark in New York that brought attention towards my eyes is the good old Twin Towers! Like some or many people who haven’t visited these great structures, I am one of them! I’ve only seen them at a far distance and have been up close to them, but never got to be in them to admire their great beauty of interior design! It saddens and dissappoints me that The Port Authority, The Governor and Mayor of New York ignored and never took into consideration that many of us wanted the Twin Towers rebuilt! If this Petition works in getting what we all wanted, that should’ve been done the last 10 years! Then I would be very happy and very pleased man!
