THE TWIN TOWERS JOURNAL For the Record There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it. — Edith Wharton A SCAR FOR THE NATION Issue 18 — July 2-8, 2012 The first piece concludes: “This is a perfect opportunity for the National Park Service to step in – with oversight and solid management. Ground Zero is not a piece of New York. It’s a scar for the nation. It’s time for the nation’s government to take control.” That is, of course, what should have been acknowledged ten years ago and the entire site would be a credit to our nation today, instead of the extravagant and elaborate disappointment it has become.
The New York Post piece below — and particularly the comments that follow it — show how divided we are at Ground Zero — how unwilling to respect different opinions and learn from each other — and that is the most awful scar of all.
