There is nothing wrong with this country or this world that inspiration and dedication can’t cure. People think the natural desire to see the Twin Towers overcome the odds is an impractical fantasy because they are being misled. In fact, it get’s more likely every day — and more vital. When the Towers do finally beat the odds against them, everyone wins. Now is the time for supporters to share the Letter to the President, along with the inspirational videos below, with ten of their friends. It costs nothing but the return could be priceless.
A recent comment on the petition pointed out that we need hundreds of thousands, not just thousands, of signatures to bring about change. But what becomes clear when one reads the collected comments in the book we will soon send to the President, is that our petition is a snapshot of the heart of the world. What do officials have to match that? We don’t think more than a hundred people truly think what they are planning — or were planning — is uplifting. We have been asking for years for a spokesman to step forward tell the public why their vision is more fitting than the dream of millions of people. If they could have, they would have.
We added a note to the comment on the petition to explain that if people knew that there is a movement and a real plan to rebuild the Twin Towers we would have hundreds of thousands of signatures — but then we wouldn’t need a petition because the momentum would be unstoppable… as officials and their puppets in the media know. That is why their only strategy has been to pretend this movement doesn’t exist and hope it will go away. It will not. That is a terribly flawed strategy and we believe the time is coming when the general public will know what is really going on at Ground Zero — that is our founding purpose and our constant aim.
When we stopped cursing the ignorance and arrogance darkening the World Trade Center redevelopment and started Rebuild-the-Towers.org in 2005, we lit two candles. In 2006, we founded the Twin Towers Alliance and bolstered by the Team Twin Towers mailing list and the World Trade Center Restoration Movement’s newsletter, we soon had our first thousand candles. The journey since then has been all uphill, but worth any exertion. Two years ago we reached out to Ken Gardner to evaluate his plan and discovered that his candle is quite brilliant — and steady. We are encouraged by his updated outlook for “Twin Towers II” and confident that his contribution will one day be recognized for what it really represents.
Now, with close to 7200 candles to light the way — the statistical equivalent of millions — we believe that right is going to sooner or later overtake might at the World Trade Center and that it will be the start of an historic shift in the balance of power in this country. Until that day comes, we all have a duty to insist that what rises from the ashes of Ground Zero be worthy of the heroes and the martyrs of 9/11 — and the price so many are still paying.
Queen Elizabeth said after 9/11: “Grief is the price we pay for love.” But who would have thought on 9/11 that our own government would make the price so much worse, instead of making it better? The current project is not worthy. That’s not a matter of opinion — it’s a fact of life. Please take our challenge seriously:
We discovered the online memorial above while Googling “light a candle” for this page. It was amazing to realize that we had never keyed in www.worldtradecenter.com and never heard about this extraordinary tribute on other 9/11-related websites. We encourage our supporters to visit the solemn memorial and to light a memorial candle. But please make any messages uplifting. We do not believe it is an appropriate place for advocating rebuilding the Twin Towers and that to do so would be a disservice to this movement. Clicking on the individual candles as they float by reveals the messages from around the world…
