The Twin Towers Alliance Petition

The statement below rings as true in 2011 as it did in 2006. The thousands of comments that have been left over the years are just the tip of an iceberg. The question for those who consider adding their names to the petition is not will new state-of-the-art Twin Towers be built, which no one knows, but should new Twin Towers be built, with which most of us have always agreed.

We, the undersigned, share the belief that nothing could be more inspiring to our people, or disheartening to our enemies, than Twin Towers, at least as tall as before in every respect, soaring above Ground Zero.

We believe that the devastation of September 11, 2001 clouded the picture long after the rubble was cleared away and that a thorough public examination of the rebuilding option is overdue and now required before proceeding on an unalterable course.

We recognize no financial or political roadblocks that cannot be overcome if rebuilding the Towers is the will of the people. And, we see no conflict between stunning Twin Towers and a noble Memorial, which belong together on this site that means so much to us all.

We submit that there is only one way to truly heal the skyline of Manhattan and the heart of America: Rebuild the Twin Towers. Doing anything less would leave a permanent scar on the face of New York and diminish a legendary city.

I think the twin towers should be rebuilt, same design but taller. This will show the world that America will prevail and we stand together strong. I pray for all the families of the victims, and I pray that the right decision is made when rebuilding ground zero.

My name is Beau and when I grow up I want to be a US Army green beret. My father was in the army and I want to give my life for my country. I love my country with all my heart and mind almost as much as God. I wish to be able to take my kid to the top and tell him that is what I fought for.

We need to honor the memories of the victims, but also the sacrifices made by the thousands of military heroes since this abhorrent act. Let’s stand tall in this valiant effort to rebuild the towers in the grandeur they deserve.

Rebuild it already (EXACTLY as it was) !!!!

Rebuild the Twin Towers alongside a proper memorial on the Super Block of the World Trade Center. Anything less dishonors those who died on 9/11 and those who have died defending it since and will be viewed as a sign of weakness and decline to our enemies and the world.

I’m glad to see “the committee” has designed a stunning memorial to the innocent people murdered on 9/11. I’m 100% supportive of that effort. But the symbolic intent of the attack was to challenge the foundation and fabric of our nation as a whole and the structure(s) that follow the twin towers should surpass the grandeur of the original Twin Towers. I really like the design and look of One World Trade Center but the tall single tower on the New York Skyline just falls well short of the real “strength” of the original Twin Towers. The greatest generation of WWII would have had a twin towers complex rebuilt by now, much taller than the two they replaced. I’m ashamed to say that the new complex design is embarrassingly inadequate and

Rebuild them. They’re icons for New York, for America, and for the world. To build anything else is absolutely disgraceful and disgusting to all of us who remember that day. The people want to return to the original, not some appalling design, to make them feel better. Rebuild them, rebuild them, rebuild them.

I watched the towers fall on live TV. I served overseas in Baghdad in ’04. The towers need to be built better than ever before. The terrorists need to know that America has the persiverance to overcome whatever happens to us. REBUILD the towers!!! They need to be better than the might they had before.

    Rebuild. Rebuild. Rebuild.

  • signature permalink Gary Lilly 11/5/2010

I respectfully suggest that we rebuild the original towers with one exception: tower one should rise nine stories taller; tower two should rise eleven stories taller. What better tribute than to follow the will of the people, especially those most affected by this devastating event? As I see it, if we do not rebuild the twin towers, then the terrorists, indeed, have won. Rebuilding the twin towers (with the noted suggestion) to their original glory would convey absolute strength and resolve. It is the right thing to do! It is the just path to take. Godspeed.

Thousands of troops have died and suffered life changing injuries since the 9/11 attack, we owe it to these heroes and to the 9/11 victims and their families to support this movement to rebuild the Twin Towers. They should be built BIGGER, STRONGER, and BETTER.

I am absolutely certain that a great number of Americans would be glad to donate their talents, time, and money to rebuild the towers.

Let us put our energy together, let us show the world that the American can do spirit is alive.

Brooklyn Born. Towers were there my whole life. Its how I knew I was home. My family and I were lucky, I had requested extended time for leave but was denied due to manning, so we left on our flights Sept 8th. The plan was to take the family to the top of the WTC and look down at the world from its observation deck. When the towers came down I was on duty again, I knew I would never be truly home again. Put them up. That’s the only real way to be American. When you’re down get up!

It’s simple! Build what ALL Americans want which is the Twin Towers 2 and with that also make it the tallest structure in the World!!! Then when those peice of scum terrorists see what we did, it’ll show how we are not afraid and even if we are sucker punched we will carry on. God Bless America!

As a former New Jersey resident and a Marine that was in boot camp on Sept. 11, I didn’t see what happened live that day. Every time I drive back home to see my family from Mass. I look across the river and it just doesn’t look right. The towers need to be rebuilt. It needs to look the way it did. I want the skyline back to the way it was.

  • signature permalink John Sutherlin * 4/24/2010

I, like so many others, joined the U.S. Marine Corps because of what happened on 9/11. We fought/are fighting the forces responsible for that tragic day, and in the process, many more American lives have been sacrificed. We owe it to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We owe it to the people of New York. We owe it to ourselves as Americans as a symbol of our strength and undying spirit. Please rebuild the towers and show the world that when we get knocked down, we come back stronger than ever.

I do not like the idea of the single tower 1 WTC. This other 2 tower Plan looks amazing and it shows we are not intimidated by the terrorists. The buildings are great and it would be an honor to have them.
    Good luck!

Im 14 years old, from the bronx and I clearly remember as a child visiting the wtc, and 9/11 put me in a state of extreme anger, my brother is in the us army and currently in the ny national guard and he loves the twin towers 2 design and everyone i mention it to loves it. After high school i plan on joining the army and fighting the THINGS that did this to us, with your help we will rebuild and be victorious!
TTA Note: All the comments left on this petition are treasured, because they are so REAL, but this one is especially precious. Thank you, Nicholas. With your help we will rebuild and be victorious!

As a former infantryman, I would like to say that rebuilding the Twin Towers to specification (or taller) would severely demoralize our enemies while uplifting the spirit and morale of Americans, as well as freedom loving people everywhere. Imagine the triumph of seeing our beloved NYC skyline restored even better than before. It is what the Greeks of antiquity would have done after such an horrific act. We must do this.

This shouldn’t even be a question. Those towers were such a part of the city. I’ve seen the architectural proposals and heard some very impressive interviews with people who were victims of the devastation on 9/11 who are for the towers coming back. I agree.

This tragedy has bruised my soul and my heart goes out to all the heroes that day inside of that building. I joined the US Army because I wanted to show support to the victims of 9/11. I wish that we could go back in time and stop this tragedy from ever happening, but who am I kidding time travel will never be possible, and God lets things happen for a reason. I hope that every American has learned something from this tragedy. I will never forget that day and the heroes in those towers.

For those whom we have lost, we will never forget u. I have proof that I will never forget and neither will my children. HOOAH WE WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT HAPPENED ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

I thought from the beginning that the towers should be built bigger and better. Make it the tallest in the world, have radar and plane tracking and communications to identify, have battery missle and detterance. Make the towers the most valuable businness center in the world, put lights on top for brilliance and tracking spotlight and laser guided missles. If there will be an attack, they will attack anything in a city. Lets show these terrorists who’s boss. Lets start using lasar guided missles, drones

The Twin Towers should be rebuilt!!!! Anything less shows our lack of resolve. The families of the people that died that day are much more in support of the Twin Towers than the Freedom Tower. Their voices deserve to be heard and acted upon.

Send them back up – one story higher! These buildings are iconic to the American psyche. Their image saturates our culture in movies and images and every time we see them, our collective unhealed wound aches. No other building would serve to heal that wound.
Some argue that rebuilding them would be disrespectful to the victims. I of course can’t speak for the victims but I can only assume that if they could speak they too would have a varied opinion. We can’t please everyone.

I believe we should rebuild in memory of all the ones we lost but i think we should not get off 9/11 because it would look like we are a weak country but we do need to remember all the ones we lost.

I was 7 years old when my first visit to New York. I promised myself that I would one day live in New York. The reason I wanted to live in New York was because of all of the kind and caring people and I was absolutely amazed by the WTC. I joined the military to do something for the country and the least the country can do is rebuild so that those lost on 9/11 did not die in vain.
