The Twin Towers Alliance Petition

The statement below rings as true in 2011 as it did in 2006. The thousands of comments that have been left over the years are just the tip of an iceberg. The question for those who consider adding their names to the petition is not will new state-of-the-art Twin Towers be built, which no one knows, but should new Twin Towers be built, with which most of us have always agreed.

We, the undersigned, share the belief that nothing could be more inspiring to our people, or disheartening to our enemies, than Twin Towers, at least as tall as before in every respect, soaring above Ground Zero.

We believe that the devastation of September 11, 2001 clouded the picture long after the rubble was cleared away and that a thorough public examination of the rebuilding option is overdue and now required before proceeding on an unalterable course.

We recognize no financial or political roadblocks that cannot be overcome if rebuilding the Towers is the will of the people. And, we see no conflict between stunning Twin Towers and a noble Memorial, which belong together on this site that means so much to us all.

We submit that there is only one way to truly heal the skyline of Manhattan and the heart of America: Rebuild the Twin Towers. Doing anything less would leave a permanent scar on the face of New York and diminish a legendary city.

The Twin Towers were the very heart of New York City and nothing will ever replace what was lost on 9/11! The new Freedom Tower that is being built at ground zero is an insult to the people who lost families, friends, or loved ones on 9/11! What is happening at ground zero is a rank abuse! The port authority doesn’t own anything at ground zero! The people are the ones to decide what they want built at the World Trade Center site!

Rebuild them, New York isnt the same with just the Empire State building =/

Thats like blowing up the Sears Tower in Chicago and leaving you to live with just the John Hancock building!

  • signature permalink Aasif Halim 9/1/2010

Please. We need the twin towers back rather then the new ones in progress. I believe that only the twin towers are the right buildings for ground zero and New York. They shouldn’t be replaced I’m sure those that died in the attack feel the same way.

Twin Towers II is beautiful and it’s the right thing to do! Rebuild! Why not?!? The Freedom Tower is disgusting down to the last detail and we all hate it! I can’t believe we have to pay for it through taxes. I would happily pay for TWIN TOWERS II! Rebuild, don’t replace.

I HATE THE FREEDOM TOWER. The one thing I have to say about the WTC Site now:

I don’t want to see the hole in the ground, nor the skeleton in the sky.

The Twin Towers (WTC) have to be rebuilt because they represent NY. New York will never be the same without the Twin Towers. REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS!!! The majority wants the Twin Towers back, stronger, taller & safer!!!

Not being able to look downtown and see the stable anchor of the World Trade Center Towers leaves me with a sense of loss and sadness on a daily basis.

  • signature permalink pat mcandrew 9/12/2009

Bring the towers back! The Freedom Tower project is a disaster- scrap it and do what makes sense. Twin Towers are an American Icon!!

  • signature permalink Shadow Farrell 8/24/2009

Returning to NYC after 9/11 was … incredible. Enough to leave anyone speechless. Never before or since have I heard Manhattan silent. Rebuilding the towers is the only option that should be considered. The New York skyline will be a source of pain for anyone who was there regardless of what is built, the most important consideration is that America stand back up – tall and strong.

  • signature permalink Jennifer Rosario * 7/14/2009

Definately rebuild them. Plus one story! We will show then how we stand united! Loud and proud!

Rebuild!!! New York will never be the same without the twin towers! We can’t let bin laden win!

the freedom towers have been delayed to 2014!

  • signature permalink John Spratsky 9/29/2008

What are we waiting for? Lets get these buildings back where they belong! cant wait to here more and hope to see the booklet posted up soon as well as a report to the nation!

  • signature permalink Paloma Cuprill 9/26/2008

Build both of them back! either the way they were, or even taller, same outside design, bottom floors make the WTC Memorial, and upgraded and hi-tech and technologically advanced! Bring back the nyc skyline, the symbol of NYC, the symbol of America, America’s international image to the world, and the symbol of freedom.

  • signature permalink Steven Chandler 7/12/2008

I agree that the replacement should include twin towers. I worked in the original WTC Tower II and loved that building.

  • signature permalink John Press 7/9/2008

I never thought about it, but rebuilding the twin towers as they were is THE PERFECT solution.

  • signature permalink Vinny Jons 7/6/2008

Please Rebuild!! I wish to wake up and see those Towers outside my window again! Twin Towers II by Kenneth Gardner is the BEST!

Yes, we need our twin towers back…but can’t we do better than the design proposed here?

TTA Note: The beauty of the Twin Towers II plan is that it is structurally ready to build and to surpass the current site plan. That is the most critical element, since this is nothing but a political problem and a political solution is only possible because there is a full-fledged plan ready to construct that would meet the most important imperative: restoring the skyline. The cosmetics of the design are open and responsive to public opinion — that is not something that would create delay.

I live on rector place just 3 blocks from ground zero and I think they should rebuild the way it was. The skyline doesnt look like new york without the towers and it never will if they build this new, bizarre complex.
    Thanks,

    Jeffrey J. Morris

I really hope that the design changes, I have lived in Manhattan my entire life and miss those two glorious towers, and definitely do not want to see the “Freedom Tower” when I get up in the morning. The name I could care less about, it is just the design that really bothers me, to me it doesn’t blend in with the rich, classic history of what is the great city of New York.

I once came across a picture of the twin towers in a Soviet published atlas circa 1979. Amazing, those buildings were a respected by our friends and enemies alike.

We cannot allow the terrorists to determine our skyline. We must rebuild one of the enduring symbols of America.

What better signal to the world than putting the TT back where they belong, perhaps twenty feet taller.

  • signature permalink Felipe Ferrini 9/16/2007

The only way to replace the emptyness the towers left.

  • signature permalink jonathan martinez 8/12/2007

the rebirth of the twin towers would show how strong we are and make NY,NY again and i am behind the donald.

  • signature permalink Frederick Lembeck 7/17/2007

    Yes. Rebuild them. Of course.

  • signature permalink Renee Rimmer 7/7/2007

I moved to Battery Park City from Los Angeles after 9/11 just so that I could be a part of the rebuilding after a devastation, even if it were to buy a bottle of water from the local businesses. I stayed there for 4 years only to have nothing built, (except for WT #7, which belongs to leaseholder). I think we should build the towers back and even a third one too! Do it even better than before, the TRUE American way! Let’s see even a better skyline than before!

  • signature permalink Zach Pannebaker 7/5/2007

Yes, rebuild the Twin Towers to show the world that America can and has risen from travisty. Our tomorrows are brighter, Our resolve is stronger and Our wisdom is greater!!

  • signature permalink Keith Bennett 7/1/2007

Build THEM! Show the world what AMERICA can do and what she stands for.

  • signature permalink David Abeles 7/1/2007

I agree. They should be exactly the same, only one floor taller–as a statement.

  • signature permalink gregg brustad 7/1/2007

YES!!! Build them again plus one more floor for defiance!

  • signature permalink Ben Murphy 7/1/2007

Not a Freedom Tower fan. Trade 7 looks great.

  • signature permalink Todd Richardson 6/24/2007

  • signature permalink Daniel Stekkor * 5/24/2007

I believe that the towers must be made exactly how they once were, to show that even in the face of sheer devastation the American resolve can shine through as bright as ever. And freedom tower? pffft.. Bring back the glorious momuments to the glorious city of New York.

  • signature permalink Luis Rodriguez 8/3/2006

If something is going to be built, build the new Twin Towers site. If the new Twin Towers site won’t be built, don’t build anything at all. Both of those decisions are better than the pointless “Freedom Tower” that has no match to New York City whatsoever.

  • signature permalink Gavin Keating 7/15/2006

A part of NYC has been taken away, please rebulid the towers!
