A Plan to Save the World Trade Center

On September 11, 2001, Mayor Giuliani promised: “We will rebuild. We’re going to come out of this stronger than before… The skyline will be made whole again.” Last year, the only Twin Towers in view were in the form of the U.S.S. New York, seen below, steaming past the site. If officials get their way, that’s the closest we’ll ever come to the Twin Towers again. But we have other ideas…

Everywhere we look we see the damage of letting entrenched special interests get away with the Too Big To Fail/Too Late To Win rationale. It is hogwash — and there is no more obvious example of that deranged logic than the current plan for the World Trade Center. Getting it right there will give us the model for fixing what ails this country across the board.

A World-Class Broken Promise

A World-Class Broken Promise

Ronald Reagan used to say that status quo is Latin for “the mess we’re in.” It is time to find out what is really going on at the World Trade Center. We do not have to compound a terrible tragedy with a terrible mistake. A truly independent analysis is long overdue. What officials are missing is that, whatever it would cost to correct course, the choice is ours, not theirs.
