There are images like the ones pictured here all over New York — as if the owners are hoping that officials will come to their senses and do the right thing. A special salute goes to Shea Stadium’s 175′ x 86′ scoreboard, which is topped with the New York skyline. Since 9/11 the outline of the Twin Towers has been kept unlit and memorialized with a red, white, and blue ribbon. What a message turning those lights on again would send!
The Twin Towers are embedded in the culture of New York and they can’t be airbrushed out of our hearts. We think that the visual story will convince the politicians better than words ever could that the best thing for New York would be to build better, stronger, greener Twin Towers and make New York New York again! What justification is there for building anything else? And then what? Will business owners all over the city have to tear down their Twin Towers and invest in new signs and awnings (and scoreboards) just to accommodate the perverse official plans?
We can still correct this. And the exhilaration of rebuilding would put us ahead of schedule, not behind! People would have something to get excited about, for a change, and something to be proud of — instead of the huge waste of time and money that is such an embarrassment now. WE CAN JUST SAY NO! The current plan is NOT inevitable and it is NOT acceptable!

Congratulations to Eric Schneck of Brooklyn, for winning two tickets to the August 28th game at Yankee Stadium and thank you all for helping to show that the only logical and respectful course is to put sensational new Twin Towers back where they belong!
We may sponsor another contest in the New Year… and if we do, any photos that have already been sent in would be entered to win. So whenever you pass one of these images, or see one pass, please snap it on your camera phone and send it to sidewalks@twintowersalliance.com. Everyone who sends in a photo of the Twin Towers in a current setting will have a shot at winning the next drawing — multiple chances for multiple entries — and those that have already been submitted will be rolled over into the new giveaway, so keep the snapshots coming.
