Why Now?

SPEAK YOUR MIND ON THE TWIN TOWERS ALLIANCE PETITION

Why should anyone bother to sign our petition at this point? Because everything at the WTC site is the result of the deliberate defeat of the democratic process — using the public’s money to do it. We don’t make that charge lightly and we have ample, uncontestable proof to back it up. The only thing worse than getting tricked out of the World Trade Center most of us wanted and deserved — by our own elected officials — would be if we let them get away with it.

It is too late, as the WTC is configured today, for the Yamasaki Twins of “Twin Towers II” — but it is not too late for stunning Twin Towers to soar above the Freedom Tower. A proposal and rendering will soon follow. If you agree with the goal of a WTC responsive to the public that is paying for it and think it is time to get to the bottom of all the manipulation and deceit that has robbed the people of a real World Trade Center, sign the petition and then please pass it on. Recovering from the bipartisan disgrace our country has become has to start somewhere.

Where better, in this dangerously divided nation, to begin to rebuild our country than in the number one place that brings us together, where minds and hearts agree? This is not a partisan cause. The WTC is a perfect example of how officials get their way and make us pay the price: Tell half the story, make it as complicated as possible, rely on the media to spread a tainted viral version of the facts, and wait for people to lose interest and move on.

Pundits on the left frequently cast social policy in terms of “What kind of country do we want to be?” That’s a very good question and for citizens on the right, left, and center the only answer can be:

“The kind that consults the will of the people and that does not tolerate deceit
on the part of officials or forgive dishonesty in the media.”

We are preparing to take part in a concerted campaign of petitions to educate the public on all the related abuses that have pockmarked Ground Zero, but for anyone who agrees with its premise, signing the Twin Towers Alliance Petition is a very good place to start. Those who think this is a lost cause and that the still “winnable” battles — to return the Koenig Sphere to the site, to get the Memorial into the hands of the National Park Service, and to see the unidentified human remains interred in a place of honor on the Memorial plaza — should think again because:

This was the scam that made all the other deceptions possible.

When Pataki, Bloomberg, Schumer and Friends saw that just by lying to the people and creating their false narrative they could steal two giant towers with hardly a peep in the media to alert the people to the actual facts, then it was of course a given that they would use that conniving playbook to override opposition to anything else they decided to do.

The outstanding exception to media malpractice at Ground Zero was Nicole Gelinas — today a scholar at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor to City Journal — whose early columns in the New York Post were a lifeline for the public’s hopes for new Twin Towers. In her piece “World Trade Sellouts” — quite possibly the best single column ever written on the subject — she observed:

“Osama bin Laden gave the order to destroy the World Trade Center – but Gov. Pataki & Co. are paying for the funeral. New York’s leaders refuse to heal our city’s mutilated skyline.”

The worst of it is that they had a lot of help from the media — from rogue editors and journalists who don’t know the meaning of the word. An excellent example of that is Steve Cuozzo of the New York Post, who is very good at gathering facts and at then discarding the ones that don’t fit his agenda. We will expand on that charge on the “Trivial Pursuits” page.
